What makes Life and Legacy Press a premium memoir service?
At Life and Legacy Press, you work directly with skilled human partners who help to transform your memories into a professional-level narrative and keepsake. While some services simply transcribe and bind recordings or AI-generated content, we believe your life story deserves the thoughtful attention of an experienced team that excels in championing your unique voice. Your dedicated ghostwriter and/or editor collaborates with you to shape your memoires into a compelling story, capturing not just events, but the emotions, context, and meaning that make your experiences truly come alive for future generations.
Does Life and Legacy Press use AI?
We believe AI is a valuable tool, but in no way a replacement for a human expert. Our team uses AI to help transcribe conversations, so we don’t miss any valuable details. “Spell Check” and “Grammar Check” tools in Google, Microsoft Word, and from outside vendors like Grammarly often leverage AI, and we do use tools of this nature as an additional layer of proofreading. However, AI and other tech tools are not infallible, which is why we rely on humans to check transcripts, proofread manuscripts, copyedit, write, design layouts, your book cover, and beyond.
When you work with Life and Legacy Press, you’re working with professionals who are passionate about bringing your story to life.
Is Life and Legacy Press the right fit for me?
At Life and Legacy Press, you work directly with a skilled human partner who helps craft your memories into a professional-level narrative. While some services simply transcribe and bind recordings or AI-generated content, we believe your life story deserves the thoughtful attention of an experienced memoir professional. Your dedicated writer collaborates with you to shape your accounts into a compelling story, capturing not just events, but the emotions, context, and meaning that make your experiences truly come alive for future generations.
I’ve already written my manuscript. Can Life and Legacy Press help me?
Congratulations! Writing a manuscript is a huge accomplishment, and we are excited to help you publish it. Our Heritage service helps you take your finished manuscript to the next level with the support of a professional editor, layout and design expert, and publishing professional. This service includes a free proof of your book and five published copies.
What if I want a memoir but I don’t like to write?
No problem! Our Timeless Edition offering includes full ghostwriting services. You share your memories with us through our easy interview process, and we turn them into a professionally written and edited memoir. As your writing partners, we ensure the voice, tone, and style perfectly matches your own, and the narrative will flow exactly as you remember it.
Can I include pictures?
Of course! Each of our service tiers includes adding pictures to your manuscript if you’d like. For other visual enhancements, like an illustrated family tree or timeline, take a look at our visual enhancement add-ons.
How long does the whole process take?
Generally, projects can take between 4–6 months, but timelines often vary. Ghostwriting, for example, takes more time than editing, and we never rush our authors. Take a look at our product page to see high-level timeline information for each service. At the time of purchase, we will work together to map out a more detailed timeline.
Who owns the rights to my memoir?
You do. This is your story, and you own 100% of the rights.
I’m helping my parent, relative, or friend with their memoir. Can Life and Legacy Press help?
Absolutely! We are happy to coordinate with you and your loved one to provide the best possible experience.
What is the difference between proofreading, copyediting, line editing, and ghostwriting?
- Proofreading: Fixing basic errors like typos, grammar, and punctuation
- Copyediting: Polishing paragraphs for clarity, consistency, and style
- Line editing: Improving flow, tone, and readability at a sentence-by-sentence level
- Ghostwriting: Writing on someone else’s behalf, in their voice
